Walking over the bridge on the road, you could see the crystal clear Rainbow river, but once in the path there was no access to the river. Apparently, you have to be a member at The Rainbow Condos to access the river... I thought that was kind of lame.
Great place to put your kayak in the Rainbow River. Also great walking and biking trails. Everything is free. Parking is limited.
We walked 1.5 miles into the trail from the bridge close to Swampy's. It was lovely. I enjoyed walking on the shaded path. People generally said hello as they passed.
Tubing down the Rainbow River is a great way to cool off from the Florida heat. Awesome experience for the whole family. Crystal clear 72° spring water is great for diving, snorkeling, or just cooling off.
Otherwise, we saw lots of small wildlife and birds. It was lovely to see the swamp areas with wide footed cypress tress growing up from the muck, all from the safety of a paved trail. (I'm an outdoorsy sort of person, but I'm a little intimidated by swamps.)
